Locally available armoury is variable depending on the type or period of weapons you need.

Armoury and Weapons

Thailand has a good selection of Vietnam era weapons available, but most are not converted to work with the much brighter movie blank. Some blank-firing assault rifles, semi-auto pistols and a very limited selection of sub-machine guns are available but are prone to jamming. There are not very many modern weapons available.

Blank firing 'stage pistols' are often offered but these operate on a low power stage blank resulting in little flash and are also unreliable.

If you have time, generally-speaking, it is much better to import weapons that have been professionally converted for film use and the correct blank ammunition. We work with an Australian company which has an excellent selection of reliable weapons, but bear in mind that import permits do take time to arrange.

When filming with weapons, in addition to a film armourer, the police or army will need to have personnel on set (usually in plain clothes.)
